Mergers & Acquisitions Opportunities at ABI

At ABI we separate Main Street Opportunities from M&A Opportunities by whom we believe the likely buyer will be, since the processes are so different for the two types of opportunities.

Main Street Buyers are typically individuals, or partnerships, looking for Income Replacement businesses. Based on this, and limits on funding of these types of transactions, we seldom see transaction sizes greater than $2 million. It is normal for these opportunities to be posted to many Listing Sites on the internet, and ABI's website under Main Street Opportunities tab. That is how Main Street Buyers are typically located.

For M&A, Buyers are usually other companies (Synergistic or Strategic Buyers), or Private Equity Groups (PEGs - Financial Buyers, but may also be a Synergistic Buyer if they already have an investment in a similar type company). This demands a significantly different approach to marketing M&A Opportunities, including much more in-depth marketing materials (Confidential Business Review - CBR - books; valuations, etc.). Marketing of M&A Transactions requires comprehensive, confidential, targeted mailings and other direct communications with potential acquirers. M&A Opportunities are seldom posted to any internet Listing Sites, or other websites, since most Strategic and Financial Buyers do not frequent those websites, knowing there are seldom opportunities there. This M&A Marketing Process also helps maintain the confidentiality of the offering, which is always a very critical aspect of the process.

We also meet, face-to-face, semi-annually with 45-60 PEGs, in order to discuss our current M&A opportunities, and to update our PEG database, which allows us to market M&A Opportunities to a much broader group of prospects.
